Hamilton Mountain Trail
The Hamilton Mountain Trail begins at Beacon Rock State Park lower picnic area. The first one and a half miles from the trailhead are a pleasant family hike to Hardy Falls (also known as Rodney Falls). From there, the falls form an impressive whirlpool a few yards up away from the trail. From Hardy Falls, begin climbing a series of switchbacks to the junction with the Hardy Creek Trail. Continue right, climbing to vistas on the Gorge rim and to the summit of Mt. Hamilton, approximately four miles from the trailhead.
Return by the same route or continue north along the ridge of Mt. Hamilton to an old fire road. Turn left at the fire road and continue down hill along road to small meadow at Hardy Creek crossing. Cross a short footbridge to the left and hike along Hardy Creek Trail to junction with Hamilton Mountain Trail. Keep right and continue down hill crossing the bridge at Hardy Falls and returning to the trailhead. The Hamilton Mountain Trail is designated mountain bike accessible but some sections are non-negotiable. There is a separate equestrian trail at Beacon Rock State Park. Hamilton Mountain trail is open April through October.
